One of the beaches in Lewes is located off of Savanah Road. It is the main public beach in Lewes and is very family friendly. Children and Senior citizens were able to swim comfortably since they didn’t have to contend with large waves.
Another added bonus of Lewes Beach is that there are clean bathrooms and bathhouses: these make changing out of wet bathing suits convenient and easy.
A couple of additional items to note: be prepared to pay for parking. There is ample parking available if you arrive early at a rate of $2.00 per hour. There is a two-hour minimum and credit card is accepted.
Rentals of beach umbrellas, sand chairs, and boogie boards are available through the local Lion’s Club. Be sure to carry cash if you plan to rent beach items. The price list is pictured below.
Several families packed coolers of food and drinks for snacks/lunch. However, there is a Dairy Queen across the street in addition to a snack bar run by the Lions Club. The snack bar is located in the same building as the beach equipment rentals. The conveniences located at Lewes Beach made for an enjoyable beach day.
